Plant Shops - Long Island, NY - Laffey Real Estate

If you're looking for ways to brighten up your Long Island home this spring, consider adding some greenery. A few new bushes in the garden beds or a couple of potted plants on the patio can give your place a whole new look. Luckily, Long Island has several awesome nurseries and garden shops where you can find the perfect plants. Here are some top spots our real estate agents recommend shopping.

  1. WILD Plant Shop: 116 E. Main St., Port Jefferson, NY 11777
If you're in the market for some unique house plants, then WILD Plant Shop is a great place to visit. They offer a curated collection of house plants, including some tropical plants you're unlikely to find anywhere else. The staff are experts on plants and can teach you how to care for any plant you buy properly.

WILD Plant Shop also has a Community Propagation Wall. You can leave a cutting from one of your plants and take a cutting from someone else's plant. The shop is open Wednesday - Sunday.

  2. Starkie Bros. Home & Garden: 721 Main St., Farmingdale, NY 11735
If you're in the area looking at Farmingdale homes for sale, consider stopping by Starkie Bros. Home & Garden for some garden plants. This full-service garden center stocks annuals, perennials, vegetable plants, and everything you need to grow them.

Walking through the outdoor nursery at Starkie Bros. is an experience in and of itself. This would be a great place to buy a new ornamental tree for your front yard or some annuals to brighten up your garden beds. They even have some ferns that thrive in shady spots.

  3. Emma's Garden: 30 E. Gate Dr., Huntington, NY 11743
Emma's Garden is a great place to buy some greenery if you're on a tight schedule. You can order online, and your plants will be ready for pickup when you arrive. The company also offers delivery, although there is a few days' wait.

Emma's Garden offers classic annuals such as impatiens and petunias. They also carry some tropical plants that do best indoors. You could spend the morning looking at Huntington homes for sale, then pick up your plants in the afternoon.

  4. Birch Plant & Gift Shop: 86 Covert Ave., Stewart Manor, NY 11530
Birch Plant & Gift Shop is a gorgeous boutique shop where you can find the perfect house plant to add greenery to your home office, bedroom, or kitchen. They have ponytail palms, philo birkins, snake plants, and even fiddle leaf figs.

In addition to plants, this shop sells all sorts of plant accessories like misters, plant vitamins, and hanging trays. They also have propagation tools such as jar rooters and vases. There are some lovely Hempstead homes for sale nearby if you're in the market.

  5. Sanctuary Home & Patio: 136-140 South St., Oyster Bay, NY 11771
If you'd like to add some greenery to your patio, we recommend visiting Sanctuary Home & Patio. Their garden center is brimming with gorgeous, designer planters. They also have lots of potted trees that you can keep outside in the summer and inside in the winter.

Sanctuary Home & Patio is also a great place to shop for patio furniture, garden accessories, and indoor plants. Don't forget to stop and look at some Oyster Bay homes for sale while you're in the area.

Decorating with greenery will help your home feel more spring-like and alive as the weather grows warmer. If you're new to the Long Island area and still looking for a place to live, contact us soon. We'll happily help you navigate the real estate market.
